Thank you, Khun Kanokwan, for these rare and unique photos of King Prachathipok & Queen Rumpaipannee.  I’ve not seen these pictures before.  These are so valuable.  It’s an eye opening and a good feeling to see leaders of the world most powerful nations then (Germany, U.S.) honored our king & queen in their diplomatic visits to these countries.  In abdicating his throne and without plotting a political return to power afterward, King Rama the 7th genuinely wanted our country to have the real democracy for the people & by the people. It was so sad to learn that His Majesty passed away quietly like an ordinary man in foreign land half a world from his own country.

It has been a continuous disappointment that 75 years after the change of political system, Thailand’s democracy has not gone anywhere.  I strongly this will change soon with the New Politics being introduced.

The best to Thailand!  May Buddha bless our country!  Long live King Bhumibol!

I'm sure other readers will appreciate, as I do, if you would share with us more historical & rare pictures like these.

Peter
